The short version
- We don't sell personal information.
- We don't use your scripts, recordings or videos to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. The only model ever built from your content is your own AI Twin, and only if you choose to create one.
- Recordings and videos are deleted automatically 60 days after they're created, unless your firm's contract sets a different period. Download anything you need to keep.
- If you use Cue through your firm, your firm controls your account and content, and we act on its instructions.
- We store your content in the United States. Some service providers may process it in other countries.
Who we are and what this covers
Cue Studio is a video creation platform for financial advisors, run by Cue Studios LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company ("Cue," "we" or "us"). This policy covers personal information we handle when you visit cuestudio.ai, fill out a form there, book a demo, contact us, or use the Cue Studio app at app.cuestudio.ai. Together we call these the "Services."
Many people use Cue through their firm. When a firm signs a contract with us, such as our Master Services Agreement, that contract governs how we handle the content the firm and its advisors put into Cue. We handle that content on the firm's behalf, as its service provider, and follow its instructions. If this policy and your firm's contract differ, the contract controls.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Website forms. When you request our white paper, we collect your first name, work email, firm, role and whether you'd like updates from us. Our updates signup asks only for your email.
- Demo requests. When you book a demo, our scheduling tool collects your name, email and anything you add to the booking.
- Account details. Your name, email, firm, title and login details, plus the settings you or your firm's administrator choose.
- Your content. Scripts, documents you upload, recordings, audio and video, transcripts, captions, brand assets, disclosure language, and the videos and posts Cue makes from them.
- Review records. The review, approval, script-lock and disclosure records the app keeps for your firm's supervision process.
- Billing details. For paid plans, our payment processor collects your payment information. We don't receive or store full card numbers.
- Messages to us. What you send when you email us or ask for support.
Information collected automatically
When you use the website or the app, we collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the page that referred you, features used and error logs. In the app we also track seat, storage and feature usage so we can run the Services and apply your plan's limits.
Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep it working and to measure how it's used. Embedded content, such as a YouTube video, may set its own cookies when you play it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Information about your clients
Cue is built for marketing videos, not client records. Please don't enter client account numbers, financial account details, holdings, Social Security or other government ID numbers, or health information into Cue, and don't show them on camera. If your content does include information about your firm's clients, we treat it as your firm's confidential information, use it only to provide the Services, and never sell it or use it for our own purposes.
How we use information
- To provide the Services: creating and running accounts, guiding scripting and recording, editing, applying your firm's branding and disclosures, producing captions, transcripts and video formats, and delivering finished files.
- To run AI-assisted features, such as topic suggestions, script drafts, transcription, filler-word removal, captions and clip selection. These use third-party AI providers, described below.
- To support you and keep the Services secure: answering support requests, troubleshooting, and preventing fraud and misuse. Our team looks at a specific item of your content only when that's needed to answer a support request or to investigate suspected misuse or a security incident.
- To communicate with you: sending the white paper you asked for, service and account notices, replies to demo requests, and, if you opted in, occasional updates. You can unsubscribe from updates at any time.
- To bill for paid plans.
- To improve the Services, using aggregated, de-identified statistics that contain none of your content and can't identify you or your firm.
- To meet legal obligations: complying with the law, responding to lawful requests, supporting a regulator's examination of your firm, and enforcing our agreements.
We won't use your content, or any advisor's likeness or voice, in our marketing, demos or sample libraries without written permission.
AI and your content
Cue uses machine learning and third-party AI services for the features listed above. Anything AI drafts is a starting point: you review and edit it, and you lock every script before you record.
We do not use your content (scripts, recordings, transcripts, uploaded material or the videos Cue produces) to train or fine-tune any general-purpose or multi-customer AI model, whether ours or anyone else's. We also choose AI providers whose terms or settings don't allow them to train on it. The only model ever built from your content is your own AI Twin, if you choose to create one, and it is used only for you.
AI avatars and likeness data
Cue lets an advisor create an AI Twin: an AI avatar, a video and voice likeness made from that advisor's own recordings. Building and running an AI Twin means processing the advisor's facial images and voice recordings, which some laws treat as biometric identifiers or biometric information. We call this "likeness data" and apply these extra rules to it.
- Consent first. We collect likeness data only from the advisor it belongs to, and only after that advisor gives written consent, including a short consent recording in the app. When an advisor uses Cue through a firm, the firm must also get the advisor's written consent and release before avatar features are turned on.
- Advisors only. Firms may not submit anyone else's likeness.
- Limited use. We use likeness data only to create and run that advisor's avatar and to make the videos the advisor or their firm asks for. We never use it to identify anyone, never use it to build a model for anyone else, and never use it in our marketing.
- No sale. We don't sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from likeness data. We disclose it only to the service provider that renders avatars for us, under contract, or when the law requires it.
- Protection. Likeness data gets the same safeguards as the rest of your content, described below.
- Deletion. We turn off the avatar and permanently delete the likeness data and avatar model within a reasonable time after the advisor or their firm asks, or after the account or contract ends, whichever comes first. In every case we destroy likeness data once the purpose for collecting it has been met, and no later than three years after the advisor's last interaction with Cue. Backup copies are overwritten in our normal backup cycle.
How we share information
We share personal information only in these situations:
- Service providers. Companies that host and store data, transcribe audio, render video and AI Twins, run AI features, send email, process payments, provide support chat, host our website and forms, and schedule meetings for us. They may use the information only to provide their services to us. Our current list is on our Subprocessors page.
- Your firm. If your account comes from your firm, its administrators can see and manage your account, content and review records, and can turn off your access.
- Services you choose. If you connect or send content to another service, we share what you tell us to. That service's privacy policy then applies.
- Legal and regulatory requests. When the law requires it, to respond to valid legal process, or to cooperate with a regulator that oversees your firm about your firm's use of Cue. We tell the firm about a regulatory request unless the law prohibits it.
- Business changes. If Cue is involved in a financing, merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be reviewed by or transferred to the other party under confidentiality obligations, and this policy will continue to apply to it. We won't disclose information about your firm's clients in that process.
- With your permission.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising.
How long we keep information
- Recordings and videos: deleted automatically from our main storage 60 days after they're created, unless your firm's contract sets a different period. The app shows each video's deletion date so you can download it first. Cue isn't an archive or a books-and-records system, so firms should keep their own copies for as long as their regulators require.
- Scripts and review records: kept while your account is open, then deleted as described below when the account or contract ends.
- When an account or contract ends: you have 30 days to download content still within its retention period. After that we delete it, and we'll confirm the deletion in writing if your firm asks.
- Account and billing details: for as long as your account is open, then as long as needed for legal, tax, accounting and dispute purposes.
- Website form and email list details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them.
- Backups: until they're overwritten in our normal backup cycle. They stay protected in the meantime.
- Likeness data: as described in the avatar section above.
How we protect information
We protect your content with administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, least-privilege access controls and logging of administrative access. Team members with access to your content are bound by confidentiality obligations.
No system is perfectly secure. If we confirm that someone has accessed your content without authorization, we'll tell affected customers promptly, and firm customers no later than 72 hours after we confirm it. We'll help firms meet their own notice obligations, including under Regulation S-P, and notify affected individuals as the law requires.
Where information is stored
We store your content in the United States, in Amazon Web Services data centers. Some service providers that process it for specific features, such as transcription, AI Twin creation or support chat, may do so in other countries. Our team may access it from outside the United States when that's needed to support, maintain or secure the Services.
Your choices and rights
- Updates by email. Use the unsubscribe link in any update, or email us.
- Your files. Download your videos and review records in the app at any time during the retention period.
- Access, correction and deletion. Email us to ask what information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. If your account comes from your firm, we'll usually refer your request to the firm, because it controls that information, and help it respond.
- State privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising (we do neither). We'll honor these requests as the law requires, may need to verify your identity first, and won't treat you differently for making one. An authorized agent can make a request for you with proof that you authorized it.
- Browser signals. Because we don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there's nothing for an opt-out signal such as Global Privacy Control to switch off. Our website doesn't change how it works in response to Do Not Track signals.
- Cookies. Block or delete them in your browser settings.
Children
The Services are built for financial professionals and aren't directed to children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Other websites and services
Our website links to, and embeds content from, other services such as YouTube and Google Calendar. Their own privacy policies govern what they collect.
Changes to this policy
We'll post any changes here and update the date at the top. If a change is material, we'll give notice on this page or by email to account holders before it takes effect.
